This one may seem obvious to you, but it truly is the best souvenir you can get. I bought a good-sized goodie bag for myself at The Chocolate Line in Bruges to bring home with me, and let’s just say it didn’t make it to customs it was that good!
Belgian chocolate is known for being some of the best in the entire world, with “tree to bar” and “bean to bar” being the most common of production standards.
Almost anywhere you go, even in the main city centers of the popular cities (which I normally don’t recommend), you can find high-quality chocolates that people travel across the globe for.
As for the chocolate itself, I recommend trying at least a few different types. Of course, you’ll find the standard dark, semi-dark, milk, and white varieties, but get out of your comfort zone and sample a few different kinds!
My personal favorite was the dark chocolate-covered homemade marshmallows, the chocolate toffees, and the coveted pralines! Praline is said to have been invented in Belgium, so if you’re a fan of sugar, nuts, and chocolate, this should be high on your must-try list.

The history of Belgian lace dates back for centuries to when the country was still known as Flanders according to some historians. Back in the 16th century, intricate bobbin lace was all the rage when it was hand-stitched for royalty and superior events.
