✔️ Cabo da Roca from Lisbon
Getting from Lisbon to the most westernly point in mainland Europe is quite simple and very affordable. In under 2 hours, you can go from your Lisbon accommodation to the rugged Portuguese coastline.
From Lisbon, go to the Cais do Sodré train station. From there, take a train to Cascais; the ride is only about 35 minutes. Once you get to Cascais, you’ll head inside the terminal and buy a ticket to go from Cascais to Sintra Station.
This additional 35-minute ride will bring you directly to the Cabo da Roca.
You will only have to walk a couple of hundred meters to the cliffs from the station, making this a fun activity for those with limited mobility.
✔️ Porto to Cabo da Roca
Going from Porto to Cabo da Roca is a much longer trip than from Lisbon, but if you are planning to explore the southern coast of Portugal, then a train ride is a fun way to see the country!
The train from Porto takes about 5 hours and has a few connections since you are coming from further North and will need to stop in Lisbon.
In Porto, you’ll head to the Campanha train station where you will need to buy a ticket for Lisbon, about a 3-hour journey. The ride will bring you to the Santa Apolónia station where you can decide to walk to the Cais do Sodré station or pay a small fee for an extra ride to the station.
Walking will take you about 30 minutes whereas the train will take you there in about 5 minutes. However, it is a lovely walk through the city!
From the Cais do Sodré station, you’ll head to the Cabo da Roca the same way as explained above from Lisbon.

✔️ Cascais to Cabo da Roca
From Cascais, you have a mere 40-minute journey to the cliffs! Just head to the train terminal and purchase a ticket to go to Sintra Station, or Sintra Estacao.
This will bring you to a spot just a couple hundred meters before the cliffs that is easily walkable! You also have the option of taking the Cascais to Cabo da Roca 403 bus, which departs frequently and takes about an hour to reach the cliffs.
When you want to go back to Cascais, simply walk back to Sintra Station where you’ll have several different train options for returning to Cascais.
✔️ Cabo da Roca from Sintra
Want to go from Cabo da Roca to Sintra’s famous Pena Palace? You can! The trip takes about an hour and 20 minutes including walking time, but is well worth the ride through the countryside.
From Pena Palace, you’ll walk to the Palacio da Pena bus station. Take a 10-minute bus ride to Sintra Station where you’ll board a train to the Cabo da Roca, about a 50-minute ride.
To go from Cabo da Roca to Sintra, simply return to Sintra Station where you’ll be free to return to Sintra town, Pena Palace, and many other Portuguese cities.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many restaurants in the immediate area around Cabo da Roca. However, there are several options located just a short drive away in nearby Sintra as well as a few further north of Cape Roca.
Some popular choices include Restaurante da Adraga as well as the Restaurante Azenhas do Mar for upscale seafood dining with a view of the Cape Roca cliffsides. However, these would require either a rental car or over an hour’s worth of walking each way from the Cabo da Roca to reach.
