Albania is home to the charming islands of Ksamil which have over five kilometers of pristine rocky coastline perfect for swimming in its crystal-clear waters or just enjoying a day at one of its many relaxing cafes overlooking the sea.

The Gravensteen Castle is a 12th-century medieval castle built to protect the County of Flanders from external enemies. It has been used as a prison and now it’s open for tourists who want to explore this ancient building with its moat, drawbridge, turrets, and guard rooms!
There are lots of interesting things inside like old paintings, weapons that were used during battle, and dungeons where prisoners would be held centuries ago.

Graslei is a quiet village located in the heart of Ghent, Belgium. The city center has boat tours and street performers during the summer months which bring joy to families and tourists strolling through town, while the winter months bring a cozy aura to the village.
Graslei’s main square contains many small shops selling Belgian waffles, lace items made by local artisans, jams from nearby fruit farms, as well as fresh flowers grown at family-owned greenhouses just outside the city limits.
52. Climb the Belfry Tower in Bruges
The Belfry Tower of Bruges is a masterpiece that will sweep you off your feet with its panoramic views of the city. The tower itself dates back to as early as 1240 and was used originally as an aid bell tower but now acts more like a historical landmark.

53. Seven Rila Lakes
The Seven Rila Lakes are a major tourist attraction in the southwestern part of Bulgaria. They lie between two mountain ranges, offering scenic views that attract tourists from all over Europe and beyond each year.
Seven beautiful emerald green lakes sit nestled in the Rila mountains. They’re fed by glacial runoff from the nearby Mount Musala and provide an ever-changing vista. Depending on recent rainfall or winds, the lakes can change color anywhere from a brilliant turquoise blue to almost white.

Tsarevets Fortress is a medieval fortress located on the highest point of Tsarevets hill in Veliko Tarnovo. Surrounded by lush greenery and impressive stone walls, this fortress is a must-see when visiting Bulgaria!
The Tsarevets Fortress has a dominating appearance and sits atop the most elevated part of the city. It is situated at an altitude of 131 meters above sea level, on top of two hills that are joined by a saddle-shaped plateau over which it was built in the 13th-century AD.

The ancient town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria is a unique destination that encompasses several important historical sites as well as vibrant nightlife and modern amenities.
It’s one of the oldest cities in Europe as it was founded around 5000 BC and used to be called Philippopolis during this time period until it became part of Bulgaria over 2000 years ago.

The Ovech Fortress is a medieval castle located on the right bank of the Yantra River in northeastern Bulgaria. For us, the idea of a holiday in Lapland sounds incredible! It’s not every year that we get to see so many snow-covered mountains and experience a white Christmas.
At this time of year, the residents of Lapland celebrate Christmas by decorating their houses with lights and greenery. They also exchange handmade ornaments and other gifts that have been made especially for each other to symbolize love between family members or friends.

You’ll often find people playing music outside in the warm summers, as well, so we highly suggest getting a table (even if there is a long wait for one) and enjoying a glass or two of wine while listening to the streets of Paris.

Djerdap National Park is an exquisite preserve of nature that lies in Serbia, near the town of Obidos. This beautiful park features multiple lakes and waterfalls as well as thick jungle-like vegetation with flowers growing everywhere you look!
For many, Djerdap National Park is a stop on the way to great mountain ranges like Kopaonik and Plitvice Lakes. Though it doesn’t compare with these giants in terms of size or fame, it is still a wonderful stop on any Serbia itinerary and should be included on your Europe bucket list.
125. Visit the Saint Sava Temple in Belgrade
The pride of Belgrade, Saint Sava Temple, is an absolute must-see for any visitor coming to Serbia. This breathtaking architectural wonder was meticulously designed and boasts a luxurious, modern appearance while still being home to nearly a century’s worth of history!
You can enter to see its massive internal size, with a capacity of upwards of 7,000 people, as well as its grand, golden halls and white-washed walls. On any trip to Eastern Europe, be sure to include Saint Sava Temple on your Europe bucket list!

The Uvac Special Nature Reserve in Serbia is one of Europe’s most unique and biodiverse nature reserves, home to mighty rivers such as the Danube and Sava. The area contains a wealth of wildlife including brown bears, lynxes, leopards, panthers, wolves, foxes, badgers, moose, deer, and more as well as a plethora of bird species!

La Sagrada Familia is Gaudi’s most famous work with its construction starting in 1869 and it is still going on today. This impressive church is intricately designed and breathtakingly beautiful with its enormous height, extensive details, and gothic aura. You can visit the inside, but be sure to book your tickets well in advance!

128. Take a Ferry to the Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands are a lush strip of land in the Mediterranean Sea, famous for their warming climate and placid landscapes. Picture white sand beaches lined with palm trees as far as you can see… it’s no wonder this destination has been ranked among Europe’s top vacation spots!
Made up of over 150 small islands with only 4 of them being inhabited by people, do yourself a favor and book a ferry ticket to this special location!
Ibiza is known for its incredible night scene while many of the islands are known for their pristine beaches and tranquil environments. A trip to the Balearic Islands should definitely be on your list of once in a lifetime experiences to have in Europe!
129. Go Flamenco Dancing in Madrid
Madrid is known as the capital of flamenco dancing. Filled with artistry, passion, and beauty all around every corner it’s not hard to see why so many people have fallen head over heels in love with this Spanish city!
You can try your hand at it at most street parties and festivals or you can book a class with some of the most renowned flamenco dancers in the world right in Madrid!

Besalú is a small town in Spain that has an old castle with wide stone walls. The area around it looks like something out of Game Of Thrones, as there are many olive trees and grapevines dotting the landscape while wheat fields stretch away to meet picturesque mountains on every side.

The Caminito del Rey bridge is a scenic footbridge in Spain that links up with narrow alleyways and romantic views. If you’re looking for something more active, there are plenty of hiking trails around it too!

Whether you are right on the shores of Stockholm or you make your way over to where my mother’s family is from in Öland, be sure to spend at least one day on the beach while in Sweden!
135. Hit the Slopes at Åre Ski Resort
Åre Ski Resort is a mountainside destination that’s unparalleled in Scandinavia. No other resort has as much of a vertical drop or turns on its pistes, and it also features long-distance skiing through the Swedish forested landscape for those who want an adventure off limits to most tourists.
The surrounding village has an aura of old-world charm that will make you feel like time itself has stopped moving for just one perfect moment at Åreskisten, or “the mountain top.”
The views from its many slopes are nothing short but breathtakingly beautiful: snow-crowned mountains framing blue skies as far down into the valley below – it’s hard not to get lost within them whichever way your head points!

136. Visit Rhine Falls
The Rhine Falls are an awe-inspiring sight, as they plunge over 600 feet into pools below! Located between Zurich and Schaffhausen, these falls offer some of the most beautiful views in all of Switzerland.
Owing to their natural location about an hour from the popular city of Zurich, many people overlook adding them to their Swiss itineraries. But, I’m here to tell you not to! The surrounding region and scenery is simply breathtaking and is well-deserving of a visit during your travels.
137. Go Hiking in the Alps
Hiking in the Alps is an experience of a lifetime. You are completely surrounded by staggering mountain peaks on all sides that are randomly interrupted by deep valleys below.
Covered in dense forests and very rich in wildlife, hiking in the Swiss Alps is one of the best things to do in Europe!
138. Eat A Lot of Cheese Fondue
Cheese fondue is a wonderful dish that originated in Switzerland (though there is talk of it originating in France, as well), where it’s enjoyed at night with friends and family for dinner.
It typically consists of local raclette or other cheeses that have been melted in a large crock over slow heat. Traditionally, it is left sitting over an open flame in the center of the table, and it is served with bread, meats, cornichons, and soft baked potatoes perfect for dipping.
This is one of my favorite meals in all of Europe and I have tried to make it at home back in the states, and it’s simply not the same. This item is on my Europe bucket list (even though I’ve already done it countless times) and it should be on yours too!
139. Go to Zermatt and See the Matterhorn
The views from Zermatt are some of the most breathtaking in Switzerland. From most hotels, you can see the striking peak of the Matterhorn and its neighboring peaks extending as far back into Italy—a truly impressive sight for people of all ages.
Zermatt is also stunning during the evening hours when everything is lit with the red hue of candlelight and roaring fires. Stroll under the stars and observe one of the most beautiful towns in all of Europe.

One of the most famous structures in all of Europe, Stonehenge is one of a kind. This prehistoric monument has been around since around 2500 BC and can still be seen today!
Made up of enormous stones arranged in a circle, it’s believed by many archaeologists, historians, and naturalists to be one of the most important structures of its kind on Earth.
A trip to the United Kingdom wouldn’t be complete without contemplating these works of past civilizations. So, even if you’re not a super history enthusiast, add Stonehenge to your list of once in a lifetime experiences to have in Europe!
141. Go For a Ride on the London Eye
The London Eye is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Europe. It’s also an observation wheel, which means that visitors can ride around for about a half hour and get a great view over the city of London.
The height difference between its lower platform and upper levels allow riders on both sides to enjoy everything this amazing city has to offer from Houses of Parliament or Big Ben down below as well as Buckingham Palace up top along with iconic buildings like the Tower Bridge not visible from ground level.
142. Listen to Stories from the Locals about the Loch Ness Monster in Loch, Scotland
Loch Lake, Scotland’s largest freshwater lake, has long been a subject of legend and speculation. Some say that it is home to the beautiful but elusive Loch Ness monster; others insist there is no such creature!
Despite its reputation as being full of mysteries for those brave enough (or foolhardy) enough to explore them in person, it’s a wonderful town to visit.
Listen to the tales of the locals and see if you believe in the idea of a water monster or not!
143. Take in the Views from Edinburgh Castle in Scotland
Edinburgh Castle is a great Scottish landmark for lovers of history and architecture. The looming stone walls that enclose its grounds date back to the 12th century when it was built by William III who used it as his residence and headquarters.
Edinburgh Castle is a breathtaking ruin that was once the medieval stronghold of Scotland’s kings and queens. The location has been used in numerous films and is an extremely impressive castle to see.
Make your way to the top of the castle for exceptional views of the former volcanic hillside and town below.
